Some Days Are Diamonds

from Swallow the Anchor by SaltyPaws

/

about

Written by Dick Feller in 1976, John Denver pushed this song to the top 10 Country Songs in 1981. However, it was just too beautiful to leave at only two verses. As we began contemplating moving ashore, and selling our boat (our home for 20 years), this song reached out and gave birth to a new verse, just for us.

lyrics

When you ask how I've been here without you
I'd like to say, "I've been fine," and I do
But we both know the truth is hard to come by
And if I told the truth, that's not quite true

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes the cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.

Now the face that I see in the mirror
More and more is but a stranger to me
More and more I can see there's a danger
In becoming what I never thought I'd be

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes the cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.

Every day that I spend upon the water
Makes me feel the blessing in my soul.
When the sun, the wind or rain each caress me
With joy I watch the sea billows roll.

Some days are diamonds, some days are stones
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes the cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.
